Ten nights across three parts of South Africa. You begin in Cape Town, beneath Table Mountain. You cross to the Eastern Cape, where the Great Fish River cuts through Karoo thicket in a malaria-free Big Five reserve. You end at Tanda Tula in the Timbavati Nature Reserve, part of the unfenced Greater Kruger landscape.

Think of this as a flavour of what's possible. Every journey is shaped around your party, your dates, your pace. Any lodge, night count, or activity can be swapped in or out.

I. Cape Town: the first breath

Camissa House, Cape Town · Days 1–4

Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town

You land at Cape Town International to a meet-and-greet, then a private transfer to Camissa House, high on the slopes of Table Mountain. A slow afternoon in the gardens or by the rooftop pool. Dinner down the hill, if you have the energy for it.

Day 2: Table Mountain and the city's kitchens

A half day with Escape+Explore. Take the cableway up Table Mountain, then join a cultural foodie tour through Bo-Kaap and the East City. The route follows the markets, neighbourhoods and kitchens that have shaped Cape Town's table.

Day 3: The Cape Peninsula and the Waterfront

A half day south along the peninsula to Cape Point and the Boulders penguins, then back by way of the V&A Waterfront.

II. Kwandwe: the Great Fish River

Kwandwe Ecca Lodge · Days 4–7

Day 4: East to the Great Fish River

A private transfer to the airport and a short flight to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), where a shuttle carries you into the reserve. You settle into your suite at Ecca Lodge as the light drops, in time for a first drive.

Days 5–6: Kwandwe at your pace

Morning and afternoon game drives cross Kwandwe with a ranger and tracker who know the ground. Between drives, choose rhino tracking on foot, a bush picnic or a slow morning by the pool. Brunch is served on the deck overlooking the valley.

Day 7: North to the lowveld

A shuttle to Gqeberha, then flights via Johannesburg to Hoedspruit, gateway to the Timbavati.

III. Tanda Tula: the Timbavati

Tanda Tula Safari Camp · Days 7–11

Day 7: Into the Timbavati

A road transfer carries you into the reserve, arriving for afternoon tea and a first drive as the light drops. Welcome home.

Days 8–10: The rhythm of the bush

Coffee at first light, followed by a morning drive and brunch on the main deck. Across the next three days, there is time for a guided bush walk, unhurried hours at camp and afternoon drives into the last of the light. Evenings bring dinner under the stars or around the boma fire, with a final sundowner in the Nhlaralumi riverbed.

Day 11: Departure

A last unhurried morning, then a transfer to Hoedspruit and the flight onward.

Yes. Kwandwe is malaria-free, and both reserves offer Big Five game viewing in very different landscapes. At Tanda Tula, the same guide and tracker accompany your drives throughout the stay.

Kwandwe, in the Eastern Cape, is malaria-free. The Timbavati Nature Reserve is a low-risk malaria area. We'll advise on simple precautions before you travel.

Kwandwe and the Timbavati Nature Reserve offer different landscapes: Eastern Cape thicket and river valleys at Kwandwe, then lowveld bushveld within the Greater Kruger at Tanda Tula. Experiencing both is the point of the itinerary.

Yes. The Cape leg extends naturally into the Franschhoek and Stellenbosch winelands, and the safari can carry on to the Falls or the wider region. Your travel consultant can shape it in either direction.

Kwandwe Ecca Lodge welcomes children of all ages, and its private-vehicle option is ideal for families who want the day shaped around them. Tanda Tula Safari Camp welcomes children aged six and over. Between them, it's a gentle, rewarding introduction to safari.
